Dewalt Dw788

The dewalt DW788 scroll saw has to be the smoothest saw . It is really quiet and barely little vibration. The upper arm lifts up to make threading thru holes from the top . Your work doesn't hang off the edge while your making your cuts. Dewalt DW788 commands are direct so you don't have to reach to the back to apply the tension. Speaking of the tension it's not a spin type tension lever. It's numbered so you know just where to put it every time. The depth of the throat is also a lot larger than altogether cheap saws out there. It is 20inches where as most of them are only 16inches. I've used the 22" Hegner and find that the Dewalt DW788 is a much better saw at a price that's such less. If your searching a great saw don't waste your money on anything else. The DeWalt DW788 is a solid Flying angry bird performer, with great tension adjuster that allows one to adjust tension while the machine is running. I also like the generous-sized table. The machine is a joy to use. I would remote controlled flying shark definitely recommend this scroll saw above any others even close to the price range. The DeWalt DW788 scroll saw is an outstanding machine. It is easy to set up and use. The saw is heavy, but that helps with the vibration. Using this saw is simple; on/off and speed control is located on top, and changing blades is very easy. The only down side to this saw is the upper-arm does not stay up when you change the blades. That means you have either hold it by hand or something else needs to hold it up. A simple fix that I used was to take a bungie cord wrapped on the upper-arm and the other end attached to wall behind the saw. It worked and it did not hinder the function of the saw. The quality out of the box was excellent. I've put about a hundred hours on the saw so far and I have to say that it is addicting. It was a surprise to find that this tool was not made in China or Taiwan, it's made in Canada. Form and Fit are perfect. I've tried very hard to find something negative to say about this saw and have failed. It's a well made tool, a pleasure to use and I'm looking forward to many years of use.The Dewalt DW788 is not just a good saw, it's a great saw. You get a Prosche for the prise of a YUGO. This is NOT an intermediatesaw but a top of the line air swimmers saw. The ability to feed fret cuts, inside cuts, from either the top or bottom is a time saving feature that pays for it self in no time at all. If your looking to get into scroll sawing start with one of the best. The DW788 can handle soft and hard wood with ease, up to 2", and the speed adjustment is easy to adjust while your cutting. No sense writing a novel about this tool. But it should be said that this beats the cheaper models and brands of scroll saws, HANDS DOWN. If you're used to using lightweight scrollers, you will be amazed at the precision you can achieve with this jewel of a saw. If you can swing the dollars to buy one, then don't miss the opportunity to own this saw. Nuff sed !!! Another big plus is the excellent Dewalt customer service. They are just a click away.
